Back for a second year, the inaugural FIELDWORKS was launched November 2024. Designed to share the wider world of contemporary dance with our South Bend community, we bring in artists from the Midwest region and beyond to perform live dance, present dance films, and offer masterclasses. More importantly, hosting a dance festival in South Bend makes our city a destination for national artists and art lovers alike. We hope you join in the experience and attend one or more of the events!

FRIDAY, APRIL 10, 2026
DANCE FILM SCREENINGS
Where: The Browning Cinema
When: 6:30 PM
Dance made for film is a modern, innovative way to share the art of dance with a wider audience. Come experience dance in a different format than live theatre and see how cinematographic techniques offer a unique lens to the storytelling act of movement. Films screened this evening are directed by various local, regional, and national artists.

DANCE MASTERCLASSES & LIVE DANCE PERFORMANCE
MASTERCLASSES
Where: Robinson Community Learning Center
When: 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Participate in a variety of dance masterclasses - take as many or as few as you wish! Styles include Yoga, Pilates, Floorwork, Afro-Contemporary, Ballet, Modern, Improvisation and Partnering. Tickets available on a sliding scale. See full class schedule here.
LIVE DANCE PERFORMANCE
Where: Philbin Studio Theatre @ DeBartolo Performing Arts Center
When: 7:00 PM
Come witness contemporary dance in an intimate theatre space. Performances include work by visiting professional companies and local professional companies, as well as two performances by local youth artists. See work by Terpsichore Collective (Ann Arbor, MI), Dance in the Annex (Grand Rapids, MI), Dance Playhouse (Grand Haven, MI), CPR: Inhale Movement (Stevensville, MI), Abby Marchesseault (South Bend, IN), Róisín O’Brien (Edinburgh, Scotland), Joanna Whitmyer (Niles, MI) and youth performances by Michiana Dance Ensemble and Riley High School students.
