Submission Requirements:
We love works in progress, however, for our first year of open submissions we will only consider completed works.
Dance makers must live and create work in one of the following states: Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, or Missouri.
There are two categories for submissions. Your work must either be submitted to the Short Works category for pieces 10 minutes or less or the Longer Short Works category for pieces that fall between 10-15 minutes.
If you plan to adapt your piece in any way from what your video shows us, please tell us that information in the Notes / Anything else we should know box.
Festival Notes:
Our live performances will take place in a black box space. It is an ample amount of space, but it is not huge. The performance space is not on a proscenium stage. Our audience configuration is adaptable - we will determine the best arrangement after pieces are chosen. That said, keep in mind that the audience could be in the round, at the same level of your performers, or in a raked, stadium seating style, with the audience looking down at your performance. Please note if you have a preferred audience layout in your application.
Live performances will take place on Friday, May 21 and Saturday, May 22. In order to showcase as many choreographers as possible, if selected your piece will appear in one of these performances. If you have a preferred night, please indicate this in your application.
Submissions will be adjudicated by a 3 panel judge Midwestern dancers and dance makers. Ultimate curation considerations will be determined by how well the work fits together and in conversation with other works. Adjudicator headshots and bios will be available soon.
