Short Works

Premiered January 16-19, 2020

Short Works is an evening-length dance experience of many small parts. In total, 7 short works combine to make a whole. A compilation of grief, humor, memory, patterns, affliction, and surrender, Short Works shares intimate human experiences, at times revealing light in darkness, at other times entering into darkness itself.

Note: Short Works featured the directorial debut of 5 members of the company (Anna Greenawalt, Sharon Sims, Maia Sutter, Joanna Whitmyer, Madeline Logan Williamson). Short Works also included a piece by guest artist Lauren Curry (Indianapolis) and a work by Artistic Director, Chloe Ilene.

SENSORIMOTOR

Premiered April 25-28, 2019

Conceived through a series of studies in sensory response, SENSORIMOTOR investigates natural response to sensory stimuli. Motor responses are explored in games and studies that evoke external stimulus. Musically, the soundtrack created for this performance is one of ‘found sounds’, or the musical character of objects that are not traditionally used as instruments. As a result, SENSORIMOTOR presents an exciting collection of movement and sound pieced together in artistic representation of our research.

Performance will take place at 503 E. Colfax Ave., South Bend, IN (former LaSalle Body Shop)

Artistic Direction: Chloe Ilene, in deep collaboration with dancers.

Musical Composition: Patrick Quiqley / Sailbear

Performing Cast: Anna Greenawalt, Isabelle Hanson, Mallory McAfee, Maia Sutter, Sharon Sims, Joanna Whitmyer, Madeline Williamson, and Chloe Ilene

/in·habit/

Premiered December 13 - 16, 2018

Developed from the initial question "what do we have" /in·habit/ explores the tangible and intangible pieces that arise from the experience of being a body in time and space.

The performance adapted to a new space in South Bend each evening. The four venues included Vested Interest, JC Lauber Building, Civil Rights Heritage Center, and the South Bend Museum of Art. The audience was able to choose the venue in which they experienced /in·habit/, including a ticket bundle option to 2 of the 4 spaces or all 4 spaces.

Directed by Chloe Ilene, in deep collaboration with the dancers. Sound design by Sailbear/Patrick Quigley. Lighting installation by GIIIVENS.
